How To Make Your Own Roller Perfume

Make Your Own Perfume Tutorial

You can use any empty Island Apothecary bottle you own for this tutorial, but we especially like to do this using our Sundown Eye Serum roller bottles. To each his or her own!

Step 1: Take turns smelling each essential oil and make note of favorites. We like to mix opposites: a muskier scent with a floral scent or a sweet scent with a pungent one.

Step 2: Fill one ounce of Argan Oil into a mixing cup. This will be the base oil for your perfume but any base oil you have on hand can work, like Sweet Almond or Apricot Kernel oil.

Step 3: Add 5-10 drops of each scent you’d like into your base oil. You won’t want to add more than 40 drops to the entire mixture in order to make sure the base oil stays stronger than the essential oils. Too many essential oils can burn the skin! But don’t worry - you have to add a lot in order for that to happen. I also recommend adding a few drops at a time and doing a smell test, to make sure you get a balance that you enjoy.

Here’s a few great combinations you can try out:
Spearmint and Eucalyptus : Energizing and refreshing
Fir and Clove: A great winter scent that’s woodsy and exotic
Chamomile, Bergamot and Vetiver: Calming, slightly citrusy
Lavender and Bergamot: A favorite combo of ours which combines the calming effects of lavender with the orange undertones of Bergamot

Step 4: Roll and enjoy! These are safe to use anywhere on the body!

Have you made your own perfume before? What combinations do you love?
